Songs on Saturday: He Giveth More Grace

Scripture tells us that, under the control of the Holy Spirit, we should be “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19). May you be encouraged by the spiritual truth in this song!

He Giveth More Grace

words by Annie J. Flint

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

Chorus:
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resource
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

Chorus

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

Chorus

Can you recognize any Scripture promises in this song? What phrases most speak to you, challenge you, or lift you up? How can you include spiritual songs and hymns like this in your personal prayer and worship?

Reading this hymn was helpful to me this morning as I pray for my 95 year old Mom. She has dementia, in a nursing home and is missing her deceased husband, my Dad. As I pray for her, it is that she can feel Gods Peace and Rest as she lays there day by day, and I know that Gods Timing is perfect.
